Chris.jpg

Chris has been making a living as a jeweler since he was nineteen (30+ years...phew). During that time, Chris also managed to attain a B.A. in Psychology along with his Graduate Gemologist degree.

The last 25 years of his career have been spent right here in Asheville. During the first ten years, he owned a store north of downtown, eight of those years on Biltmore Ave, and he now works out of Miya Gallery in his hometown of Weaverville, North Carolina.

Even after more than a quarter century, Chris remains excited about creating new and unique pieces of jewelry and still thrives on the inspiration his customers bring to the process.

When Chris is not working, he spends much of his time with his three boys, who are twenty-two, twenty, and seventeen years old. Chris exercises regularly in an attempt to keep up with them as they grow increasingly bigger and stronger, while he does not.

The boys now…

The mom and some of her boys.

The dog and her boys.

Carter and his big brain + shaky hands.

With my love of handcrafted jewelry and art; Miya Gallery is a perfect fit for me.  My 30 year background in fine quality custom jewelry brings extensive knowledge of everything from metal work, gem stones, design to customer service.  Expanding my awareness in other art and craft work is exciting and refreshing.
I landed in Asheville 10 years ago in search of a more relaxed life style set in a rural landscape.  The mountains, community and art scene make Asheville the ideal place to call home.
