Fabric Wall Hangings
Handmade fabric wall hangings, scarves, and ties. Laura Sims works from her studio in Bakersville, NC, about 40 minutes north of Asheville. Her designs are inspired by the nature at her property near the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Each piece is hand painted and transferred through two layers of black silk. This displaces the original black dye and creates a mirror image. When hung the two layers give depth and movement to the image.
Her wall mounts are designed and patented by her from North Carolina hardwoods, and are included in the price of the piece.
Due to the process of color transfer in the silk, each of her fabric wall hangings is color safe and hand washable with cold water and mild soap. Do not place over a window or where it will get longs periods of direct sunlight. They look their best with a good direct light source such as track lighting.
Unfortunately, Laura has discontinued this line for the time being. We have a limited number of pieces available, contact us for more information. For more about the process and to view some of her past work, please visit our Squidoo lens on Fabric Wall Hangings.
These fabric wall hangings can be custom sized to fit any wall. Please call or email with questions and special orders. Thank you for looking.
